When Chelsea signed Nevin for £90000, he proved to be an immediate sensation at the club, helping them win promotion in his first season. He broke into the Scotland team in 1986 after his great performances with Chelsea. After the disappointment in not being included in the Scottish side for the 1990 world cup finals, he forced his was back into the squad in qualifying for Euro 92. Nevin decided to leave Chelsea in 1988 after they were relegated and he moved over to Merseyside to play for Everton. His honours include being named Scottish PFA Young player of the year in 1983.

 

Ally McCosit

McCosit made his league debut in 1979 as a midfielder playing for St Johnston, he scored 22 goals in his three year spell at the club before leaving for Sunderland, however a fruitless spell at Tyneside with only 8 goals in 56 appearances, moved him back to Scotland to play for Rangers. In his debut season at Ibrox he scored eight goals and collected a Scottish League cup medal. His confidence and goal scoring ability improved for Rangers and earned him a place in the Scottish national side. He played an integral part in the 1990 world cup finals and 1992 European Championships.

Stuart McCall

McCall bursted into the football scene in May 1989 in the FA Cup final between Everton and Liverpool, however he ended up on the losing side. He moved to Everton in 1988 for a staggering £825000 and during his first season he put on some great performances for the club. In March 1990, McCall was drafted into the full Scotland squad in a 1-0 win over Argentina. He played in the 1990 world cup finals and was a revelation, scoring an essential goal against Sweden. He also played for Scotland in the 1992 European Championships.
